Lower Damgate Farm Cottages – Self-Catering Accommodation in Ilam, Peak District

Lower Damgate Farm Cottages in Ilam provide self-catering accommodation across a selection of unique cottages, including part of a historic 16th-century farmhouse and a cosy alpaca hut. Offering the perfect setting for a peaceful rural retreat, the property is based in one of the most beautiful areas of England, in the south of the Peak District National Park between Dovedale and the Manifold Rivers. Rural, accessible, and surrounded by stunning scenery, it is an ideal location for family breaks, reunions, special occasions, group get-togethers, parties, corporate events, or wedding receptions.

The Courtyard Properties

The three courtyard properties—Reuben’s Roost, Bremen’s Barn, and Hope’s Hideaway—offer everything needed for a holiday in a countryside setting. Brimming with character, each cottage includes a range of facilities. Guests can enjoy a feast in the communal kitchen/dining area in Hope, while a spacious games room comes with comfortable seating, a pool table, and a big-screen TV.

Reuben’s Roost also features a large living area with a vaulted ceiling and exposed beams, plus a mezzanine area. The entire property offers plenty of flexibility for space and relaxation, with multiple living areas, kitchens, and break-off rooms. Outside, there are enclosed gardens perfect for al fresco dining or outdoor fun. Guests are also welcome to explore the paddocks, wooded areas, and 22 acres of fields, feed the alpacas and goats, or collect eggs for an authentic rural experience.

Reuben’s Roost – Sleeps 7
This charming cottage has a downstairs double bedroom and two upstairs bedrooms: one double and a small double with a single bed in the attic truss room. There is a bathroom downstairs. Guests can unwind in the open-plan living/dining area, enjoy the mezzanine’s small sofa bed and Juliette balcony, or make use of the separate kitchen for home cooking.

Bremen’s Barn – Sleeps 8
This cottage has a downstairs four-poster bedroom with a small sofa bed, plus three upstairs double rooms. Two bathrooms are located on the ground floor. The upstairs open-plan sitting/dining/kitchen area includes original exposed trusses and wooden floors.

Hope’s Hideaway – Sleeps 9/10
Perfect for large groups, this cottage offers three bedrooms on the ground floor (one four-poster and two twins), plus an upstairs double room. Two pull-out sofa beds are available in the upstairs living/games room, along with two bathrooms. On the ground floor is a well-equipped kitchen with a burner range cooker, two large fridge-freezers, and washing facilities. Next to the kitchen is a fantastic dining area and a snug area.

Purdy’s Place – Sleeps 4 + 1
B&B accommodation is also available in a two-bedroom annex, based in part of the 15th-century farmhouse, offering plenty of charm and character. The double bedroom has a slipper bath, while the second bedroom has twin beds and use of a shower room. The kitchen is well equipped, and the living area is ideal for relaxing after a day in the countryside.

The Alpaca Hut – Sleeps 2
This luxurious shepherd’s hut is perfect for a romantic getaway. It features a double en suite and a hot tub for soaking away troubles with a glass of bubbly.

On-Site Animal Sanctuary & Events

Lower Damgate Farm also has a small animal sanctuary with alpacas, goats, ponies, sheep, cows, ducks, geese, and chickens. Guests are encouraged to interact with the animals, feed them, and collect eggs. To make a stay even more special, an event barn can be hired with the cottages for weddings and other events, creating a unique and memorable experience.

Visiting Ilam & Exploring Derbyshire

The surrounding area offers stunning scenery perfect for relaxing walks and cycle rides. Lower Damgate Farm Cottages in Ilam offers superb self-catering accommodation in a range of cottages, as part of the main 16th Century farmhouse and an alpaca hut, perfect for the ultimate rural retreat. We are based in one of the most beautiful areas of England in the south of the Peak District National Park, nestled between Dovedale and the Manifold Rivers. Rural, accessible and surrounded by stunning scenery, we are a perfect setting for any occasion, including family breaks, reunions, special occasions, group get-togethers, parties, corporate events or wedding receptions.

The Courtyard Property:
Our 3 fabulous courtyard properties, Reuben’s Roost, Bremen’s Barn and Hope’s Hideaway offer anything you need for a magical break in a stunning countryside setting. All the cottages are brimming with character and include a range of excellent facilities. Unwind in the open plan living/dining area, whilst a mezzanine area has a small sofa bed and a delightful Juliette balcony. A separate kitchen is great for home cooking.

Bremen’s Barn – Sleeps 8:
Our fabulous cottage has a downstairs four-poster room with a small sofa bed, plus 3 upstairs double rooms. Two bathrooms are on the ground floor. Upstairs a lovely open plan sitting/dining/kitchen area includes wonderful original exposed trusses and wooden floors.

Hopes Hideaway – Sleeps 9/10:
This outstanding cottage is great for large groups, offering 3 bedrooms on the ground floor (1 four-poster, 2 twins), plus an upstairs double room. Two pull-out sofa beds are available in the upstairs living/games room and there are also two bathrooms. On the ground floor is a well-equipped kitchen with a burner range cooker, two large fridge freezers and washing facilities. Next to the kitchen is a fantastic dining area and a snug area.

Purdy’s Place – Sleeps 4 plus 1:
We also offer B&B accommodation in this superb 2-bedroom annexe, based in part of the 15th Century farmhouse, offering plenty of charm and character. The beautiful double bedroom has a slipper bath to soak yourself in, whilst the 2nd bedroom has a twin and use of an excellent shower room. The kitchen comes with a range of appliances for rustling up a storm and a lovely living area is great for relaxing in after a day in the countryside.

The Alpaca Hut – Sleeps 2:
Our luxurious shepherd's hut is perfect for a romantic getaway. The hut comes with a double en suite and you can soak away your troubles in the glorious hot tub with a glass of bubbly.

We also have a small animal sanctuary on site with alpacas, goats, ponies, sheep, cows, ducks, geese and chickens on the farm and encourage all to interact with them and collect the eggs or feed the animals. If you want to make your stay even more special for a party or special occasion, we do have our event barn which is hired out with the cottages for weddings and other events, we endeavour to make our guest's stay special and the properties have to be right for you. Molly's Cottage, Llangynin, St Clears, Carmarthenshire (Sleeps 1-4)


Molly’s Cottage is a Welsh barn conversion, ideal for a romantic getaway. It is located within the Carmarthenshire community of Llangynin. It includes a Grade II listed church in the centre. The cottage is 15 minutes from St Clears. This small town sits on the River Taf. It has amenities including shops and places to eat.

The holiday cottages can sleep 4 people in a king size room and a twin room. There is a living room, a well-equipped kitchen/diner and a spacious bathroom. There is also a garden for you to relax in and seating around the ponds. You are welcome to walk around the fields.

Llangynin is a peaceful location providing a relaxing retreat. Nearby St Clears has stunning landscape as well as a range of amenities. This area is ideal for walking and cycling.

The county town of Carmarthen claims to be one of the oldest in Wales. It is a quaint town sited on the River Towy.

Carmarthenshire provides a range of things to do and places to visit such as:
Kidwelly Castle.
National Botanic Gardens.
Laugharne Castle.
Pendine Museum of Speed.
