Millmans Cottages are a charming collection of self-catering holiday homes nestled in the beautiful South Hams countryside, in the village of Marldon near Torquay in Devon. Ideally located for exploring South Devon, Dartmoor National Park and the stunning beaches of the English Riviera, the cottages provide a relaxing and well-connected base for a memorable holiday.

On warmer days, guests can unwind around the solar-heated swimming pool or relax on the sundeck, where sun loungers offer the perfect spot to soak up the sunshine while enjoying views of the surrounding gardens.

Believed to date back to the 17th century, Millmans Cottages retain much of their original charm and character. Each cottage has been tastefully decorated and furnished in its own individual style, while all are presented to the same high standard of comfort and cleanliness. The cottages welcome walkers, cyclists, families and dogs, ensuring guests feel truly at home.

To make stays as comfortable as possible, the cottages are fully equipped with an abundance of pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and glassware. All linen, including towels, electricity and heating are included, along with washing-up liquid, kitchen cloths and tea towels. Freeview TV and free Wi-Fi are also provided at no extra cost.

Bluebell Cottage – Sleeps 4

Bluebell Cottage is a cosy holiday home with two bedrooms, comprising one double and one twin. It features an open-plan sitting and dining area and a contemporary kitchen with light beach-style timber units and coordinating furniture. On the first floor there is a bright double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a modern shower room.

Primrose Cottage – Sleeps 4

Primrose Cottage is a traditional two-storey property offering a spacious open-plan sitting and dining room, along with a separate contemporary kitchen fitted with light timber units. Upstairs, guests will find a bright double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a modern shower room.

Rose Cottage – Sleeps 4

Rose Cottage is a traditional two-storey cottage featuring a spacious sitting and dining room furnished with comfortable cottage-style furniture, including a recliner chair. The ground floor also includes a bright, modern, well-fitted galley kitchen. Upstairs, there is a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a modern shower room.

Honeysuckle Cottage – Sleeps 6 + 1

Honeysuckle Cottage is the largest of the properties and is ideal for extended families or groups of friends. It offers direct access to the cottage garden, sun deck and solar-heated pool, as well as its own private terrace with outdoor dining furniture—perfect for alfresco meals or morning coffee in the sunshine.

On the ground floor, Honeysuckle features a lounge and dining area with natural stone flooring, comfortable furnishings and a modern, well-equipped kitchen with a stable door overlooking the terrace, garden and pool. Upstairs, there are three spacious bedrooms decorated in soft pastel shades, two of which include vanity units and wash basins, along with ample storage. The cottage also benefits from a modern family bathroom with bath and shower, plus a separate toilet.

The water supply for Honeysuckle Cottage comes from the property’s own natural spring, offering exceptionally fresh-tasting water. The cottage is well equipped with larger pots and pans, extra crockery, cutlery and glassware, all linen, and a supply of environmentally friendly cleaning products.

Lilac Cottage – Sleeps 1 or 2

Lilac Cottage is a cosy, characterful two-storey beamed cottage and an ideal romantic hideaway. The ground floor offers an open-plan sitting and dining area with comfortable furnishings, a newly fitted white kitchen, an entrance lobby and a toilet. Upstairs, there is an open-plan double bedroom with an en-suite shower and wash basin, decorated in soft lilac tones to complement the exposed beams and featuring an Art Nouveau dressing table.

Lilac Cottage also has a secluded outdoor seating area in a quiet corner of the garden, overlooking the cottage garden and bird feeders—an ideal spot to enjoy an evening drink while watching the many feathered visitors.

Visiting the Area

Millmans Cottages are perfectly positioned for exploring the South West of England. The surrounding area offers a wide selection of pubs, cafés and restaurants serving delicious local produce. Marldon itself is known for its beautiful lanes, countryside, ancient church and the Church House Inn, all of which feature in several published walking guides. Walks range from gentle village strolls to longer adventures of up to ten miles, taking in Compton Castle and nearby villages.

Guests may also wish to visit nearby attractions such as Babbacombe Model Village, Bygones or River Dart Country Park, all within easy reach of the cottages.

Honeysuckle is the largest of our cottages and it is ideal for extended families and groups of friends. It has direct access into the beautiful cottage garden, with a sun deck and solar-heated pool and has the advantage of its own private terrace and outdoor dining table making it perfect for alfresco dining or breakfast and morning coffee in the sun. On the ground floor, Honeysuckle has a lounge/diner with a natural stone floor and comfortable furnishings and a modern well fitted kitchen with a stable door overlooking the terrace, garden and pool.

On the first floor, there are three very spacious bedrooms decorated in pastel shades with toning bed linen, the two larger bedrooms equipped with vanity units and wash hand basins, and plenty of storage space. A modern bathroom, with a bath, shower, wash hand basin and toilet and a separate toilet with wash hand basin. The water supply to this cottage is from our own natural spring, providing in our opinion some of the best tasting water in Devon! We like our guests to feel at home so we have provided a good selection of larger pots and pans, extra crockery, cutlery, glass wear, all the linen for use in the cottage and a supply of environmentally friendly cleaning products, washing up liquid and cloths.

Lilac Cottage - sleeps 1 or 2:

A cosy character two-storey beamed cottage, a hideaway for two! On the ground floor, Lilac has an open plan sitting/dining room with comfortable furniture and a new attractive white kitchen, an entrance lobby and a toilet. On the first floor an open plan double bedroom with en suite shower and hand basin, the bedroom is decorated to compliment the beamed room with soft lilac-toned furnishings and Art Nouveau dressing table. Lilac cottage has a secluded outdoor seating area in a quiet corner of the garden overlooking the beautiful cottage garden and bird feeders, an ideal spot for your evening glass of wine while watching our many feathered visitors to the garden.

The holiday cottages are in a great location for exploring the southwest of England. There are plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants in the surrounding area serving a whole variety of local produce.

Marldon’s beautiful lanes, countryside, ancient church and Church House Inn are featured in several published walking guides ranging from a short stroll through the village to a ten-mile adventure taking in Compton Castle and surrounding villages. Alternatively why not visit 1 of the many nearby attractions including Babbacombe Model Village, Bygones or Riverdart Country Park.
