Elspinhope is a serene self-catering holiday cottage located in the picturesque Scottish Borders, ideally positioned within the untouched landscapes of The Ettrick Valley. Perfect for accommodating up to four guests, this cottage provides a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle, inviting guests to immerse themselves in the fresh air and quiet of the area.

Situated on Cossarshill Farm, a 1,400-acre hill sheep farm adjacent to the Southern Upland Way, Elspinhope champions environmental conservation. The farm is designated as an Environmentally Sensitive Area (ESA), where ongoing conservation projects such as dry stone walling and planting native woodlands are a testament to the owners' commitment to sustainability. Guests at Elspinhope can enjoy unrestricted access to the farm, offering the chance to explore numerous walking paths along the hills and by the river.

The cottage itself is secured with a post-and-rail fence around the garden area, which includes a picnic table and a pathway leading down to the Cossarshill Burn, showcasing rocky pools and a small waterfall. The interior of Elspinhope is designed to be a home away from home, providing a warm and inviting atmosphere. Each window frames stunning views of the surrounding scenery and wildlife, making it possible to enjoy nature's beauty from the comfort of your room.

Elspinhope is thoughtfully furnished to maximize comfort, featuring a double bedroom and a twin bedroom with en suite facilities. It also includes a bathroom equipped with a shower over the bath, a well-equipped kitchen for self-catering needs, and a large sitting/dining room with a 55-inch wall-mounted TV, offering all streaming services accessible with guests' own passwords. Utility room facilities include a washing machine, dryer, and ironing equipment. French windows in the dining area open out to the garden, offering picturesque views down to the burn and the expansive hills beyond.

The surrounding woodland is a haven for biodiversity, home to wildflowers, rare butterflies, and red squirrels. In the autumn, Atlantic salmon can be seen in the pool below the cottage, which also serves as an excellent swimming spot in the summer.

The Ettrick Valley is celebrated for its ecological diversity, housing various mammals like otters, badgers, and red squirrels, alongside rare birds such as ospreys and black grouse. The cottage serves as an excellent base for hillwalking, with local amenities for fishing, golf, riding, and mountain biking also available.

Craig Cottage is a luxury self-catering holiday cottage situated near the small township of Kenmore on the beautiful Applecross Peninsula in the northwest of Scotland. The holiday cottage has been built to a high specification and furnished to an exacting standard.

Accommodation:

The self-catering cottage is tastefully furnished and decorated in calming colours. As soon as you step inside, you are enveloped with that cosy feeling; added to this there are the spectacular sea views from all rooms - “heaven on earth”.

The cosy sitting/dining room with a real wood floor, has a multi-fuel stove, a comfortable leather suite, oak dining furniture, satellite television, DVD, CD/Radio/iPod player, local information, binoculars & maps. Patio doors lead out to a decked area with sea views.

The kitchen is modern and well equipped with an electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer and a small dining table with sea views.

There are two double-sized bedrooms upstairs with built-in wardrobes. One bedroom has a 5ft King size bed and one has a twin/zip & lock bed (2 x 3ft single beds or locked creating 1 x 6ft bed). Please state your preference, separated or locked, at the time of booking. Linen, towels, bathrobes and hair dryers are provided. Both Bedrooms have sea views.

The bathroom is downstairs and has a curved shower bath suite and overhead shower. There is an additional downstairs shower room with an electric shower, toilet & wash hand basin.

It is ideal for leisure activities – mountaineering, hill-walking, fishing, sailing, canoeing and diving. If your wish is to have a romantic escape or just to unwind and take life at a slower pace, relax and enjoy the views, chill out on the decking reading or just watch the world go by.

This is an area set in dramatic scenery, dominated by mountains, lochs and sea, well noted for its exceptional beauty, peace and tranquillity. What better way to end your day than to sit out on the decking with your glass of wine in hand, watching the herons at work, the otters, seals and occasionally dolphin or porpoise at play in the bay.

If you are seafood lover, then this is the place for you, as you can sample crab, langoustines, squat lobster & lobster straight from our boat to your door and cook on request. Alternatively, if you wish to eat out, you are spoiled for choice with the Applecross Inn, The Potting Shed in the grounds of Applecross house and the Shieldaig Hotel, all within driving distance.
