Pule Cottage, Halifax, West Yorkshire


Pule Cottage is beautifully positioned at the end of a row of 18th-century crofter’s cottages, sitting high above Halifax and offering breathtaking views across the rural countryside of Calderdale. Just a five-minute drive from the town centre, the cottage enjoys a truly special setting that combines peace and seclusion with excellent accessibility.

Ideal for a relaxing getaway, whether for a weekend or a longer stay, Pule Cottage provides a perfect base for exploring the surrounding area. Nearby destinations include Skipton, Haworth and Hebden Bridge, along with the stunning landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales. With convenient access to the M62 and M1, guests can easily explore both Halifax and the wider region. The area itself gained national attention during the Tour de France in 2014 and continues to host the annual Tour de Yorkshire.

The cottage has been fully renovated and refurbished to a high standard, while retaining its original character. Features such as exposed beams, stone mullioned windows and traditional stonework have been carefully restored. Cherry Tree Cottage is a recently refurbished nineteenth-century stone property featuring two bedrooms. All rooms are south facing, offering extensive views over the Black Brook Valley and surrounding Pennine countryside.

The ground floor includes a fully equipped lounge/dining room and an entrance kitchen fitted with oak units and a breakfast bar. The lounge/dining room retains charming original features such as the old stone fireplace and exposed beams.

A well-appointed bathroom with a feature timber ceiling is also located on the ground floor. A traditional enclosed staircase leads to the first floor, where there are two separate bedrooms—one with a double bed and one with built-in full-size single beds.

Heather Bank Cottage

Heather Bank Cottage is a one-bedroom holiday home converted from a nineteenth-century stone barn, retaining attractive natural stone walls and timber beams.

The ground floor offers an entrance hall, a well-designed separate bathroom, and a twin-bedded room with a beamed ceiling. The entire first floor is open plan, featuring a high timber-clad ceiling, a dining area, a lounge, and a well-equipped kitchen.

Both cottages have direct access to a large two-acre garden with a pond, trees, and heather banks. A selection of good pubs and restaurants can be found locally, with some within walking distance.

Visiting Barkisland & Exploring West Yorkshire

The surrounding area offers a wealth of attractions, including Shibden Hall, a six-hundred-year-old medieval timber-framed manor house.
