Brighid is an architecturally designed luxury holiday home located on the rugged North West coast of the Isle of Lewis. It offers panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, blending seamlessly into its natural surroundings. Inspired by the agricultural heritage of the area, the home's design echoes the dark tones of the Lewisian Gneiss rock upon which it stands. Brighid is crafted to promote relaxation and foster a deep connection with nature, making it an ideal escape at the ocean's edge.

Situated on a small outcrop, Brighid is perfectly positioned to capture spectacular views stretching up to 30 miles along the island’s coastline. Catering exclusively to couples, it provides a peaceful and private setting for a tranquil escape. 

The home incorporates advanced eco-friendly technologies, ensuring minimal environmental impact. It features an energy-efficient heat pump system for hot water and underfloor heating. For extra warmth during colder winter months, a small wood-burning stove adds to the cosy atmosphere. The design of the house prioritises natural light, with full-height, south-facing windows in both the bedroom and living area. These windows not only flood the space with light but also provide direct access to the outside decking, where guests can relax and enjoy the stunning landscape.

The bathroom is a standout feature, with its own full-height glazing and a freestanding bath. This offers the perfect setting for relaxation, whether guests are watching the sun set over the horizon or listening to the rhythmic sound of waves crashing against the shore.

Inside, Brighid’s interior design takes inspiration from the Scandinavian heritage of the island, combining minimalist, modern furniture with traditional materials. The result is a serene and stylish space that reflects the beauty of its surroundings. 

Brighid comes equipped with a range of modern amenities to ensure guests' comfort and convenience. These include energy-efficient heating systems, digital wireless-controlled heating, and low-energy LED lighting. Privacy and light control are managed through remote-controlled blinds. For entertainment, there is a large 55” HD TV in the living area, and a Nespresso coffee machine is provided for guests to enjoy a selection of coffee capsules. Deck chairs are also available for outdoor relaxation, neatly stored in an external storage box for easy access.

This Western Isles holiday village is ideal for Scottish island holidays. It is open year-round in undiscovered Scotland, will give you a wonderful experience never to be forgotten!

In the morning you can wake up to the crashing Atlantic Ocean on your doorstep, while in the evening you can relax in front of a real fire. During the day you can enjoy the variety that the Gearrannan Blackhouse Village has to offer, or you can spend your time taking in the rest of the islands.

Taigh Thormoid 'an 'ic Iain:

The house of Norman, the son of John, the son of John. This award-winning blackhouse is in the oldest part of the Gearrannan Blackhouse Village. It offers a sea view, solid fuel stove, underfloor heating, double bedroom, shower room, fully fitted kitchenette, and a living area. It is perfect for a single person or a couple.

Taigh Glass:

Glass was the nickname of the son of Tormod 'an 'ic Iain. He left the village in about 1920 to settle in the village of Dailmor. At that time wood was very scarce so Glass carried all his roof timbers on his back across the country to his new home two miles away. This 4-star blackhouse offers a solid fuel stove, underfloor heating, shower room, double bedroom, single bedroom, fully fitted kitchenette, and a living area with a double sofa bed. It is perfect for a family. This house has been restored with the needs of disabled visitors in mind.

Taigh 'an t-Seòladair:

The house of John the Sailor. His daughter Peigi was the last living resident in the Gearrannan Blackhouse Village, leaving in 1974. This 4-star blackhouse offers a solid fuel stove, underfloor heating, shower room, double bedroom, a single box bedroom, fully fitted kitchenette, and a living area with a double sofa bed. It is perfect for a family.

Taigh Làta:

Làta was the nickname of John the Sailor's brother. This 2-star group accommodation blackhouse was one of the first to be restored in the Gearrannan Blackhouse Village. It offers a solid fuel stove, storage heating, fully fitted kitchenette, and a seating area. The accommodation is bunkhouse style, with sleeping areas of six, six, two and two. The house also has two toilets and two shower rooms. It is perfect for a large family or organised group.

The Gearrannan Hostel:

This restored blackhouse hostel sleeps 13. It offers bunk beds, showers and a fully fitted modern kitchen. It offers accommodation for 10, plus a family room for 3. Set in a picturesque location, Taigh Dhonnchaidh is a unique hostel that offers budget accommodation for backpackers, walkers, cyclists, outdoor enthusiasts and students.

Notes: It is recommended that accommodation is booked by e-mailing info@gearrannan.com or by telephone (01851 643416), but visitors can stay in the hostel without prior booking if there are vacancies. It is advisable to buy your provisions before arrival as there is no shop nearby. RATES - £25.00 per person per night. Family Room £85.00 per night.

The village caters for a wide variety of visitors. Groups and individuals have the opportunity to experience traditional rural activities (in season), learn about the rich history of the area, relax and socialise in a unique atmosphere.
