Accommodation

Thoughtfully designed with calming décor and a welcoming atmosphere, the lodge features a comfortable double bed and a sofa bed suitable for one additional adult. Please note that the property is not suitable for children.

The lodge includes a fully equipped kitchen, allowing guests to prepare and enjoy relaxed meals at their own pace, with everything needed for a comfortable stay provided. Outside, a south-facing seating area beside a gentle river offers the perfect spot to relax, soak up the sun and take in the peaceful surroundings. Visiting the Area

Fort Augustus sits at the southern tip of Loch Ness and offers plenty to see and do in the surrounding Highlands. Visitors can stroll along the impressive Caledonian Canal and watch boats pass through the famous flight of locks, or take a cruise on Loch Ness to enjoy the spectacular scenery and perhaps catch a glimpse of its legendary resident. The area is ideal for walking and cycling, with routes leading into the hills and forests that surround the village. All the apartments have been renovated to a very high standard adding modern touches like central heating and double glazing! They are all very comfortable and spacious with all the facilities you could possibly need.

The Old Convent was originally built as a church by Lord Lovat in 1842 and known as St.Peters chapel. In 1888 it was then offered to ‘The Sister’s of Mercy’ from Elgin to use as a school and their convent, during their short occupation it was known as St.Columba’s convent. After extensive renovations were completed in March 1892 for a new order of nun’s, it was renamed St Scholastica’s Priory until 1922 when the remaining nuns were moved to Holm Eden Abbey. Since then many people have lived in the convent including a few let’s say…'colourful' characters!

Fort Augustus is the perfect place to relax with a short walk to the centre of the village where you can find grocery shops, butcher, post office, ATM, petrol station and several pubs and restaurants. You can take a boat trip up to Loch Ness or simply chill on the canal side watching the boats negotiate the locks!

No.1 The Old Convent is a ground floor apartment which has just been sympathetically renovated to a very high standard but keeping some of the character and adding modern central heating and double glazing! No.3 & No.4 are first floor apartments.

Originally built as a church in 1842, then converted into a convent 'St Scholastica's Priory' in 1891, the nun's took residence in 1892 until 1922 when the remaining nun's were moved to Holme Eden Abbey. Some of the nun's are buried in the graveyard at Fort Augustus Abbey, half a mile from the convent on the shores of Loch Ness.
