Accommodation

Our traditional stone-built 18th Century barn conversion has been beautifully refurbished to offer high-quality accommodation. The property boasts stunning views across the Cartmel Valley, Morecambe Bay and out to sea.

A spacious sitting room is perfect for socialising and relaxing in. Facilities include lovely oak beams, a roaring log fire and a Samsung flat screen LCD Smart TV. The room enjoys glorious views from 3 windows. A gorgeous kitchen with oak beams comes with a shaker style theme and was made by local craftsmen. Appliances include a large range cooker, 4 gas burner, a wok burner, 2 fridges, freezer and a large microwave. A large dining room has a table which seats up to 8 people.

Four double bedrooms are available. The two upstairs bedrooms have doors which open onto a veranda. Both bedrooms have king-sized beds. The largest bedroom has 2 French doors which open onto a sunny veranda. A range of beautiful bathrooms are available, including some bedrooms with en suite facilities.

A games room on the ground floor has a large flat-screen TV, a Wii games console, a few Wii games and an electric organ. A great place for the kids to relax in.

Outside there are 2 large garden areas. The large lawned area can be accessed from the bedrooms, veranda and sitting room. The garden is enclosed, enjoys glorious countryside views and has plenty of seating areas and a BBQ. Ideal for al fresco dining. A spacious summer house comes with cushioned chairs, a large wine cooler/fridge, heating, lighting and electric.

Beckside is just a short drive from Cartmel, a lovely Cumbrian village. It has a medieval square and Priory, some charming shops, world-famous restaurants and attractive pubs. It is also within easy reach of many attractions in the Lake District. Cartmel is popular with foodies and is home to a variety of Lakeland inns, tea rooms and gourmet restaurants. 

We are a mile and a half from the medieval Priory which is the oldest and prettiest racecourse in England.

Set in a quiet lane on the edge of Cartmel, Field Beck overlooks the great medieval Priory of Cartmel and is the sort of late Georgian house that Jane Austen might have lived in. It is a Grade II Listed building and all of its light and airy rooms have lovely views and catch the sun. The house has been lovingly restored and furnished to keep its historic character and charm.

Beneath the house is the original cellars, with stone flagged floors, an extra loo and a games room with snooker and football tables.

Field Beck is surrounded by a delightful walled garden with a pond and stream. There is also a patio that is a real sun trap – perfect for barbeques!

The house will actually sleep 8 adults comfortably and there are two loos, but, as there is only one bathroom, 6 may be a more practical maximum number. The hosts offer discounts for smaller groups and couples. Well behaved dogs are welcome.
