Oystercatchers Holiday Cottage is a cosy, self catering holiday home at Breakish, just a short drive from Broadford on the Isle of Skye. Our accommodation is only 10 minutes from the Skye Bridge and 20 minutes from the Mallaig-Armadale Ferry. For those who want a break away where you can relax and recuperate, our location is truly idyllic.

About Oystercatchers Holiday Cottage
A traditional 1.5 storey house that can sleep up to 6 people. It is set in beautiful gardens, that stretch down to a tidal inlet overlooking the Ardnish Peninsula. The cottage is in a truly stunning location and is an oasis of peace and quiet. From the house, you can enjoy uninterrupted views from the garden across Broadford Bay and towards the Red Cuillins.

The cottage has been tastefully refurbished, ensuring all who stay have an enjoyable and comfortable break away. It has been awarded 4 Stars from Visit Scotland and has a modern heating system which is individually controlled in each room.

A cosy living room comes with comfy seating, a toasty wood burner, a 32’’ smart TV with Freest, Blu-ray/multi-region DVD player and sound bar, plus an iPod dock.

A well-equipped kitchen/dining comes with a range of appliances for home cooking: an electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, slow cooker, toaster and coffee maker. Enjoy some lovely meals around the oak dining table that seats 6.

In total, there are 3 bedrooms: 1 downstairs double, 1 first floor king and 1 uspsairs twin room. The upstairs shower room comes with an electric shower, whilst downstairs there is a bathroom with a P-shaped bath with a shower over.

Outside is a fenced garden, along with a BBQ and patio furniture for you to use during your stay on those mild days. There is substantial land outsdei with a stock fence, where you can enjoy a bay-side fire or simply take in the view. The cottage is the perfect place to launch your kayaks, canoes or dinghies. The water comes right up to the edge of the garden at high water springs, so boating couldn't be easier and when you arrive back you can simply pull the boats up onto the garden.

Despite being only a 10-minute drive from Broadford and less than a mile from the main road the cottage is accessed down a private road, so is very quiet and low light pollution makes the area ideal for stargazing. You will probably be woken only by the call of seabirds or geese as they pass overhead.

Visiting Breakish & Exploring the Isle of Skye
If bird-watching is what you are interested in, Ardnish, being at the eastern edge of Broadford Bay is one of the best birding spots on Skye. It regularly picks up migrants on brief stopovers as well as the occasional scarce vagrant. The bay can often be relatively sheltered when gales are belting in from the west and there is a long window on the shore side gable end of the cottage so you can even view in comfort from inside!

Broadford is the second-largest settlement on Skye after Portree. A 5-minute drive, 20-minute bicycle ride or a stiff walk from Oystercatchers, it has a 24-hour petrol station that sells fuel for the wood burner and several shops. You will find the full range of shops, hotels, cafes, including an excellent large Co-op, Post Office, Chemists, Bank, Cottage Hospital, Tourist shops, churches and restaurants.

Half of 14, Torrin, Broadford, Isle of Skye (Sleeps 1-4)


Half of 14 is a traditional Skye stone cottage that has been completely refurbished while still retaining its original cosy feel. We are sited in the scenic crofting community of Torrin in south Skye on a quiet lane leading to a peaceful sandy beach. Torrin enjoys spectacular views of the sea, the Red Cuillins and the iconic Blaven range.

Accommodation:
The stone cottage has a cosy sitting room with a wood burning stove set in an exposed stone wall with two comfy sofas, compact flat screen TV with DVD player. Enjoy some home-cooking in the well-equipped kitchen which has an oak worktop, ceramic hob, electric oven, washing machine, and fridge freezer. Relax with a delicious meal around the kitchen table next to a toasty wood burner.

There is a downstairs shower room with basin and wc. Upstairs are two attractive double bedrooms and a small child’s bedroom. Available on request are cot, baby bath, stair gate and highchair.

Visiting Torrin & Exploring the Isle of Skye:
Torrin itself is the perfect base for wonderful coastal and mountain walks. From nearby Elgol are the amazing boat trips to the heart of the Cuillin range. Otters, seals, golden and sea eagles are regularly seen on close-by Loch Slapin. Torrin is five miles from the village of Broadford which has a range of facilities, cafes, COOP supermarket, petrol station, vet, chemist, and post office.
