Coombe Mill, St. Breward, Bodmin, Cornwall

Coombe Mill – Family-Friendly Farm Holidays in Cornwall

Tucked between Bodmin Moor and the Cornish coast, Coombe Mill is a stunning 23-acre private estate near St Breward, Cornwall. Once a 16th-century working water mill, it has been thoughtfully transformed into a haven for family-friendly farm holidays, offering a unique blend of countryside charm, engaging activities, and self-catering comfort in scenic Scandinavian and riverside lodges.

A Farm Experience Tailored for Families
Coombe Mill is designed with young children in mind. With 30 acres to explore, there’s never a shortage of space or adventure. Every morning, six days a week, children are invited to join the supervised tractor rides led by Farmer Nick and Farmer Ted, helping to feed and care for a variety of animals. From collecting freshly laid eggs to petting pygmy goats, lambs, and miniature donkeys, the experience is both fun and educational—perfect for curious young minds.

While children immerse themselves in hands-on farm life, adults can enjoy some downtime. The on-site gym offers sweeping views of the river, and bikes are available for hire to explore the renowned Camel Trail, which starts just a mile from the estate. For those who enjoy fishing, Coombe Mill provides exclusive access to a fishing lake and private riverbanks along the River Camel—home to carp weighing up to 20lbs. A valid rod licence is required.

Stylish Riverside Lodges
Coombe Mill features six beautiful self-catering lodges, each sleeping up to eight guests. These lodges are known for their spacious, open-plan interiors, high ceilings, and natural light, creating a calm and luxurious atmosphere. Their stunning riverside and woodland settings, combined with stylish design, make them some of the most sought-after accommodations on the estate.

Discovering St Breward and Beyond
Coombe Mill is set within its own peaceful hamlet, nestled between the picturesque villages of St Breward and St Tudy. St Breward lies on the edge of Bodmin Moor, a wild and spacious landscape where ponies and sheep roam freely. With streams, picnic spots, and open spaces, it’s a perfect destination for children and dogs alike. Nearby, The Old Inn—Cornwall’s highest pub—offers a warm, family- and dog-friendly atmosphere, complete with distant sea views.

Just a short drive away, guests can discover the dramatic North Cornish coastline, known for its rugged cliffs, pristine white sand beaches, and family-friendly coves with lifeguarded swimming areas in summer. The charming harbour towns of Padstow, Port Isaac, Tintagel, and Fowey offer wonderful day trips for sightseeing, seafood, and seaside charm.
