Unique Railway Stay in Herefordshire
Rowden Mill Station offers one-of-a-kind self-catering accommodation in Bredenbury, set within a beautifully restored 1890s train station. Nestled in peaceful countryside, it provides the perfect base for exploring the many attractions of Herefordshire.
The Station Building
The Station Building accommodates up to four guests and retains its original character with thoughtful modern touches. The Platform Canopy includes seating for eight and an outdoor table, ideal for al fresco dining while enjoying the views. Guests can also unwind on the three-seater bench.
Inside the former Waiting Room, there is a cosy lounge complete with a wood-burning stove, comfortable seating, TV, DVD player, and a bookcase. The kitchen, located in the former Booking Office, is fully equipped with a gas hob, electric oven, extractor hood, microwave, fridge-freezer, and dishwasher. The Ducale table extends to seat six.
The former Ladies’ Waiting Room now features a double bed, a Victorian fireplace, and a tall window framing scenic countryside views. A second bedroom includes adult-sized bunk beds, and both rooms share a Victorian-style bathroom with a shower over the bath.
The Parcel Office
The converted Parcel Office offers spacious, self-contained studio accommodation ideal for couples or as an annexe to the main building. The room includes a double bed, sofa, dining area, and en suite bathroom with a modern shower. Sliding doors open directly onto the platform, revealing picturesque hill views.
A log-burning stove provides heating, with wood and kindling supplied in the winter. Guests receive a full briefing on how to use it, and the fire is lit ahead of arrival on cold days. The studio also includes a home cinema setup with a large screen, projector, DVD/Blu-ray player, and an extensive DVD collection. The kitchenette offers a two-ring gas hob, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, and sink.
The Saloon Coach
The 1960s Saloon Coach provides a nostalgic railway experience for up to four people, set on Platform 2 among trees and wildflowers. Its panoramic lounge windows showcase the station and surrounding landscape. Outside, there’s a picnic area and BBQ facilities for outdoor dining.
Inside, guests will find a lounge-diner with retro 1960s furniture, a wall-mounted TV with Netflix, and a fully equipped kitchen featuring a gas hob, electric oven, fridge, dishwasher, and sink. The main bedroom has a double bed, while a second compartment offers full-size bunks. The bathroom includes a shower cubicle.
