Torgorm Cottage is located in Carbost, a crofting community on the Isle of Skye close to the majestic Cuillin, a range of hills and mountains including 11 Munros. Overlooking beautiful Loch Harport, this modern bungalow is decorated and furnished to a high standard. It is a paradise for walkers, climbers, cyclists, and birdwatchers. Golf, fishing, and riding are also available.

Torgorm Cottage is the perfect place to relax and unwind or get out and about. The accommodation consists of an open plan living room and dining area, outdoor decking with great views down Loch Harport and up to the Cuillin, and a smart television with DVD player. Guests can enjoy free Wi-Fi and a fully equipped kitchen with a washing machine, fridge, and electric and microwave cookers. The cottage has three bedrooms: one double, one twin, and one single. The bathroom includes an electric shower, and electric panel heating is available throughout. All linen is provided during the summer season, and infants under twelve months can be catered for. Please note that pets are not allowed and the property is strictly non-smoking.

Guests of Torgorm Cottage benefit from an arrangement with the Isle of Skye Baking Company in Portree, allowing them to collect a complimentary goodie box. This box contains a selection of locally produced provisions, including free-range eggs, granary bread, fruit bannocks, shortbread, oatcakes, and mini jams. For those celebrating a special occasion, arrangements can be made for champagne, flowers, or a homemade cake.

Visiting Carbost & Exploring the Isle of Skye

Carbost offers a variety of attractions and amenities. The Old Inn, set on the shores of Loch Harport, is a local pub known for its warm Highland welcome, great food, and live music throughout the year. Another pub, Taigh Ailean, is situated at the end of the Minginish Peninsula, offering stunning views of Loch Harport, Macleod’s Tables, and the Cuillin.

The Sligachan Hotel serves breakfast from 8.30 am to non-residents and drinks from 11.00 am. The hotel also features a wet weather centre with a children’s crèche, billiards, pool, table tennis, and other games.

Inside the cottage, guests will find tourist literature detailing places of interest on the island. Notable recommendations include Dunvegan Castle, the Quiraing, and the Croft Museum in the north of the island. To the south, the Clan Donald Centre, set among lovely gardens and forest walks, and Elgol, with boat trips to Loch Coruisk, are highly recommended. Beaches worth visiting include Claigan Coral Beach, Glenbrittle, Eynort, Talisker, and Fiscavaig. Those interested in activity holidays should consider visiting Whitewave – Skye’s Outdoor Centre at Kilmuir near Uig. Additionally, the Isle of Skye Bakery & Skyeworks Gallery in Portree is well worth a visit.
