The living space is open plan, featuring comfortable leather sofas, a coffee table, a flat screen Freeview TV, DVD player, and a CD/radio player. An oak dining table with chairs provides a lovely setting for meals. The dresser is stocked with a selection of books, board games, and plenty of local information leaflets, maps, and guides for walks and places to visit in the area. The cottage is fitted with floor tiles throughout and is equipped with an oil-fired combi boiler that runs hot water and underfloor heating. For those cooler evenings, a wood-burning stove in the living area adds a cosy touch. All fuel and logs are included in the rental price.
In 2024, the cottage was updated with a new bespoke oak kitchen and solid oak worktops. The kitchen is fully equipped with an electric double oven, induction hob, and a large 60/40 fridge freezer. The cottage features one ensuite shower room in the double bedroom, a twin bedroom, and a second separate shower room. Both bathrooms are fitted with heated towel rails, storage cupboards, and complimentary toiletries.
Outside, guests can enjoy a large, private gravelled sitting/garden area with open views to the paddock and fields beyond. A set of table and chairs, a large hardtop gazebo, and a barbeque are available for al fresco dining. Thirsk, made famous by author and vet James Herriot, features the original surgery, now turned into a museum that recaptures the home and working life of the young vet. Outdoor markets are still held in Thirsk on Mondays and Saturdays, adding to the town's traditional charm.
