Torsa Island Farmhouse is the only property on Torsa Island. Perfect for child-friendly family holidays, giving you time to unwind and relax together, while exploring the bays, islands and hills around.
The ground floor consists of:
Large conservatory with wonderful views south overlooking Loch Melfort and the Isle of Shuna.
The kitchen and dining area are very well equipped with electric cooker, microwave oven, toaster, storage cupboards, sideboard, dining table and chairs, CD player and radio. There is also the farmhouse's original range in place, but this is for decoration only! The kitchen has windows facing east and south.
The sitting room has a three-seater sofa, four comfy chairs and a cosy window seat. Compressed woodchip logs and kindling is provided for the log burner with additional logs available for a small charge. There are books and games available.
Downstairs you will also find the shower room, with large enclosed power shower, toilet, washbasin and heated towel rail.
There is also a small utility area in the hallway with washing machine, tumble dryer and sink, as well as ample room for boots and coats.
The upstairs accommodation comprises:
A spacious double bedroom with a five-foot-wide pine bed, large pine wardrobe, dressing table and bedside tables.
The twin room has plenty of room for two pine single beds, a wardrobe and drawers.
The bunk room has full size bunk beds and a large chest of drawers.
Family bathroom with bath, overhead power shower, toilet, hand basin and heated towel rail.
All beds are made up for your arrival with towels provided for each guest.
The house is surrounded by a half-acre walled garden with three gates. This is bounded on the northeast corner by the barns, which house the Egator.
Transport is provided in the form of a rigid tubed dinghy called Cutty which is kept on a running mooring and access is via stepping over the side of her (approx. 1m height) onto the stone beach. There is no jetty, pontoon, pier, dock etc, which is why we recommend wellies! Once on land, you have the use of an Egator electric buggy to carry luggage and shopping to the house.
Located 16 miles south of the bustling harbour town of Oban on the west coast of Scotland, Torsa is within easy reach of shops, tourist attractions and only three hours drive from Glasgow. Your stay starts with a lesson in using the motorboat and electric buggy provided for your use, and help to settle you into your holiday accommodation.
Sited above the well known safe anchorage of Ardinamir Bay, it is also the perfect shore base for a sailing or motorboat holiday. The moorings can be used for guests own boats and there are ample local sites to launch canoes or kayaks from.
