Musselwick, Dale, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire (Sleeps 1-16)

Musselwick is a large house built around 1860 and situated in the Pembrokeshire National Park. It has wonderful views across the bay to the picturesque village of Dale and out to sea past the point. The property faces south west enjoying all round sunshine and is protected from the western waves and weather by Dale Peninsula. Access to the beach from the house is via steps on the south side and a grassy ramp that also serves as a slipway on the north side. Most of the beach consists of pebbles, rocks and rockpools. Though there are patches of sand just below the house that are large enough to keep young children happy for long periods.

Accommodation
Both the bathroom and modern kitchen are fully-equipped. There is a second sitting room with a double sofa bed. An attached cottage is also available on request.

Although there are many beautiful beaches and places to visit in the area, most people are happy to spend most of their holiday around the house relaxing in the garden, playing on the beach or messing about in boats.

The grounds in which the house is set extend to more than an acre. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path runs around the edge of the grounds offering superb walks straight out of the garden. The front garden consists of a large lawn area overlooking the sea. Perfect for barbecues. Access to the beach from the house is via steps on the south side and a grassy slipway on the north side.

The house has 2 double bedrooms ensuite, 1 single and 1 double both with wash-basins. The main bathroom has new bath, shower, toilet and wash-basin. A new high quality fully-equipped kitchen has been fitted. There a second sitting room with a double sofa bed. An attached cottage is also available on request.

Visiting Haverfordwest & Exploring Pembrokeshire
The main activity for most visitors to Musselwick seems to be sitting on the front lawn watching the dinghy racing, the spectacular windsurfers, the ships and the wildlife. But for those who want more activity there is a wide range of options. Dale is a major sailing, diving and wind-surfing centre and a wide variety of craft can be hired there. The house has a 10'6 rowing dinghy which can be used with prior arrangement. It is a pleasant row to Dale across the bay which is generally calm.

Within a short drive there is a great range of wonderful opportunities. A boat trip from Martin's Haven to Skomer to see the puffins and the seals is a must. There are beaches for everyone: Dale West for the surfers; Marloes sands a huge secluded sandy beach sheltered when the wind is in the north; for snorkelling go to St.Brides Haven, also ideal for young children.

For a great cliff-top walk amid carpets of spectacular wild flowers, start anywhere between St.Ann's head and Little Haven (fine pub at the end of a long walk). Cycling along a huge network of relatively quiet lanes with few hills is an obvious attraction. This is just to give you the flavour of what this part of Pembrokeshire is like if you have not been before.
