Eastern Slade Barn Bunkhouse, Oxwich, Gower, Swansea
Eastern Slade Barn-Bunkhouse, the original farmhouse at Eastern Slade Farm, is a property steeped in history, with roots stretching back over 200 years. In 1905, a new farmhouse was constructed for the grandparents of the current owners, and the barn was repurposed for agricultural use, housing cattle and machinery. Today, this barn has been thoughtfully converted into comfortable accommodation, specifically designed for outdoor enthusiasts looking to explore the surrounding area.
Eastern Slade Farm, a working farm, has evolved over the years. In 2016, it transitioned from dairy farming to rearing calves from dairy cows, reflecting the changing dynamics of agricultural practices. The farm is a family-run operation, with three generations of the Beynon family working together to maintain its daily activities and ensure the well-being of the livestock.
The barn has been transformed into a bunkhouse that can accommodate up to 13 guests across four bedrooms, making it an ideal choice for groups or families. One of these rooms is accessible for disabled guests, demonstrating the thoughtful design considerations taken into account during the conversion. Additionally, the bunkhouse can provide accommodation for two more guests on fold-up beds in one of the rooms if needed.
Guests have access to three shower rooms with toilets, including one that is fully equipped for disabled use, all conveniently located on the lower floor. This ensures that all guests, regardless of mobility, can enjoy a comfortable and accessible stay. The well-equipped kitchen, featuring a dual fuel range, allows guests to prepare meals with ease. Meanwhile, the spacious lounge area, complete with a state-of-the-art log burner, provides a cosy and welcoming environment to relax after a day of activities.
Outside, Eastern Slade Barn-Bunkhouse offers an open space where guests can unwind and enjoy the fresh air. The area is equipped with large gas BBQs, ample tables, and seating, making it an ideal spot for al fresco dining or simply enjoying the company of fellow guests. For those with a passion for outdoor activities, the bunkhouse provides secure storage for bikes, canoes, and surfboards, ensuring that equipment is safe and easily accessible.
A member of the Beynon family is always available on-site to assist with any issues or questions guests may have, adding a personal touch to the stay and ensuring that all needs are met. This family presence further enhances the welcoming atmosphere of Eastern Slade Barn-Bunkhouse, making it a memorable destination for visitors looking to experience the charm and beauty of a working Welsh farm.
