Tom's & Douglas Barns offer self-catering holiday cottages and are situated in Parwich, Derbyshire.
Both of the holiday cottages are ideal for a romantic break in the beautiful Peak Park countryside.
Toms Barn:
Tom’s Barn is our dog-friendly self-catering holiday accommodation for two. This converted cottage is now a top-quality accommodation with all modern comforts. We kept as much of the original structure as we could, reusing the original stone where walls had to be repaired and retaining all the old and somewhat misshapen wooden lintels. We equipped the barns with the best we could find and furnished them with a blend of antique and modern.
The galleried bedroom is airy, light and warm. Over the luxury Vi-spring bed are two roof lights - with blackout blinds for when you don't want to star gaze. There is a flat-screen remote control TV on the wall and a portable digital radio by the bed. Bearing in mind that the building itself is old and that your bedroom is in what used to be the hay loft you’ll understand why there is the original truss is still there, now padded by ultra-soft leather!
By the door to the en suite bathroom, there is a heated towel rail (remote-controlled) to ensure those fluffy towels are nice and warm for you. The very special bath, sometimes irreverently called the love tub is up two steps and deeper and cosier than most.
The sitting room with a big gable window is open to the rafters. There is full central heating (which you control) and a log burner, a flat screen TV with Freesat, a DVD player and a mini Hi-Fi.
The kitchen is extremely well equipped and we provide all the store cupboard basics you’d find in your kitchen at home. We always leave you some fresh flowers and during the summer a jug of herbs from the garden.
You will find a tea tray laid for your arrival, with freshly cooked homemade cake or biscuits.
Outside there is a table and a couple of chairs, an ideal spot for enjoying a quiet drink in the evening sun after a long walk in the surrounding peak countryside. You also have your own garden area, behind a living willow hedge, with a brand new Pepe table and two chairs, plus a Weber charcoal barbecue for your own use.
Douglas’s Barn
Douglas’s Barn is in a wonderful south-facing sun trap. You will find a tea tray to welcome you when you arrive, with freshly baked homemade cake or biscuits.
The sitting room has a 'burning pebbles' electric fire set into the wall and from the relaxing comfort of the sofa, you can adjust the glow to suit the mood. There is a flat screen TV, also a mini Hi-Fi CD/iPod player and a DAB radio. In the bookcase, you'll find masses of local information, maps, games and novels.
The kitchen is impressively equipped with top quality electric cooker with rotisserie, a microwave, slow cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer and practically every implement you could need.
The bedroom is found up the spiral stairs and is a peaceful and spacious room offering wonderful views. The extra long, extra wide, king-size bed with Vi-Spring mattress is wonderfully inviting.
There is a flat-screen TV that you can watch from the bed.
The en suite bathroom is beautifully warm with a heated towel rail to ensure you can step right out of the bath and into a wonderfully warm and dry fluffy towel. The whirlpool bath with power shower above is fairly spacious if you feel like sharing the bathwater!
