Plan the Perfect Getaway

Plan the Perfect Getaway.

Self catering holidays are the perfect opportunity to bond with your family and friends, relax, unwind and recharge your batteries. Preparing for your next staycation does not have to be a stressful time. Have a look at our list of useful tips to help you plan the perfect getaway.

1) Welcome Packs.

Many holiday properties provide welcome packs containing those essential items to give you the perfect start to your holiday. Check with the accommodation owner before you set off to ensure you don’t pack items you don’t need.

2) Supermarket Deliveries.

Some accommodation owners now arrange for you to have a supermarket delivery on the day of your arrival. This is a fantastic idea meaning you don’t need to pack food items, they will conveniently be waiting for you at your holiday destination.

3) Weather Reports.

Check the weather reports before you leave for your chosen destination. This will help you decide what clothes to pack ensuring you don’t waste valuable suitcase space with clothing items you will not even wear.

4) Plan Activities.

It is a good idea to find out about the local area before you go on your holiday. Plan day trips and attraction visits ahead of time. Purchase tickets in advance, this is often a cheaper option, saving you money in the long run. Thinking ahead like this means you won’t be wasting time on your break planning days out, you will already know what you are doing each day and can just get up and go!

5) Taking Your Pet.

Make sure you find out in advance any rules you and your pet may need to adhere to. Some holiday homes allow pets to run freely throughout the accommodation and gardens. Others prefer your furry friends to be kept off furniture and beds and to be kept on leads in grounds. If you are going on a coastal holiday find out if the beaches are dog friendly and at what time if year. If you are taking a countryside break, find our where the public footpaths are so you can explore happily with your canine companion. Remember, if there are sheep and other livestock out in the fields, always keep your dog on a lead.

Very often, the best way to find information is to ask the accommodation owners themselves as they know the area well and can inform you of the best places to go.

We hope you have found these tips helpful and will use them when planning your next staycation. Not sure where to go? Take a look at www.theholidaycottages.co.uk for inspiration.
