Little Folly is a self contained extension to our house and was once a Hunting Lodge There is a special feeling about this remote and solitary place. We have fully working stable yard in which a local family keeps four horses and grazes them in seven acres. This keeps the whole area very much alive (we get some sheep in too, if the grass gets too long!). At the same time there is a palpable stillness which visitors find refreshing and strengthening after the bustle of modern busy lives.
Little Folly sleeps 1 - 4 people and 1 or 2 well behaved dogs and is the perfect place for those who seek the peace and quiet of the wild beauty of Exmoor. I am Adrian Hewlett, a former naval officer long retired from a career in aviation, mostly in the Middle East. I live here at Folly with Tinka my Jack Russell and we both delight in greeting visitors to our rather special property.
The living area is perfect for relaxing in and comes with Sky TV and a DVD player. A well equipped kitchen comes with a range of excellent appliances: large microwave, fridge/freezer, electric kettle and toaster. We have two beautiful bedrooms available, including a double bedroom and a twin room. Both rooms share a recently refurbished bathroom.
We have wonderful lawns and a picnic table, benches and chairs. You can unwind with a glass of wine whilst savouring the gorgeous countryside views.
The famous Red Deer are all around and a few minutes’ walk will always bring you close to a herd of Exmoor Ponies who also roam wild. There are great pubs, tea rooms and restaurants within a short drive and many ancient remains from the Ancient Britons to the Romans to absorb the interest. For the less energetic, nothing beats sitting in the garden and relishing the wide-open views.
