Barnwell Farm Cottages offer self catering accommodation near the historic village of Greyabbey. The cottages in Co. Down provide a great base for exploring the local area.
The farmhouse and courtyard have been sympathetically restored into 7 cottages. The use of traditional materials and clever design have captured the true atmosphere of a rural country cottage. The aim of the proprietors is to provide a home from home. Arrangements by prior request can be provided.
Every effort has been made to make our guests feel at home and a large game/function room is provided. It comes complete with a kitchen. You can listen to music, watch TV or just relax with a cuppa. Games are provided to keep the children busy. For the smaller ones a cot, high chair, bath and baby alarm are available on site.
The games or function room is a fully equipped room. It comes complete with a fitted kitchen. This facility is provided free of charge for our guests. The facility is designed to appeal to all age groups and games include pool, table tennis, air hockey and a variety of other board games etc. Soft seats are here for those less active. Listen to music, read or maybe just sit with a cup of coffee and watch others spend their energy. The games room can also be used for conferences, seminars and group meetings.
To get the most out of your Barnwell visit, we have developed farm trails that explore all the best places to see wildlife. A short walk up the hill behind the car park gives panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. On a clear day, you can see as far as the Isle of Man, Scotland or nearer to home, the Mourne Mountains.
Our Bird Hide gives the best views of the pond, its marsh, the woodland edge and hedges. A special place at dusk is the Badger Hide. In Spring and Summer, you may be lucky to see these animals as they head off for a night’s feeding.
Magnificent long sandy beaches are within 5-10 minute drive. Other nearby activities include diving, clay shooting, fishing and sailing. We close to many beautiful National Trust properties, such as the world famous Mount Stewart House and Gardens.
