It was originally a village inn called the Golden Lion – and reputedly a hotbed of smuggling activity – now it is a spacious and characterful holiday get-away sleeping 9 people in 5 bedrooms where you can self cater in comfort and style.
Staying in the old part of Staithes is a special experience as the village has a unique character and an atmosphere special to itself. Step out onto the cobbled street and you are only 100 metres from the safe little beach and the harbour, passing two pubs, several cafes, a great art gallery and a range of useful and interesting small shops on the way! Opposite the house is a pathway between the tightly packed houses leading down to the beck where Staithes’ few remaining fishermen moor their colourful boats.
There is plenty of interest for the whole family in the village itself and the ever popular coastal town of Whitby is just 11 miles to the south, providing a wide range of things to see and do for all ages.
