Intake Cottage & Swallows Byre provide charming self-catering holiday accommodations just one mile west of Low Row, near Richmond in North Yorkshire. These cottages are uniquely positioned, offering both proximity to the tranquil River Swale and convenient access to local amenities. The surrounding area is known for its lush green valleys, patchwork fields, and freshwater river, making it an ideal location for walking, cycling, sightseeing, trout fishing, painting, or simply relaxing.

Intake Cottage is a delightful stone-built cottage brimming with character. It features a beamed ceiling, original flagged stone floors, and an 18th-century stone and cast iron open fire in the sitting and dining room. The cottage is thoughtfully furnished throughout with antique furniture and comfortable, tasteful soft furnishings. Guests can enjoy modern conveniences such as a television, DVD player, CD player, and radio in the sitting room.

The kitchen is well-equipped with a Belfast sink, an electric double oven and hob, a microwave, a fridge freezer, and a dishwasher. Despite the modern amenities, the cottage retains its historical charm with original stone shelves and flooring.

The cottage accommodates up to four people in its two upstairs bedrooms. The master bedroom features a double bed, while the second bedroom, accessible through the main bedroom, has a 3-foot single bed. The bathroom, located just off the main bedroom, includes a bath with a shower above, a shaver point, a heated towel rail, and a wall heater.

At the front of the cottage is a private raised garden that overlooks the River Swale. It is south-facing, and the patio terrace, complete with garden furniture, is perfect for barbecues and picnics.

Swallows Byre is a cosy cottage for two, located over the garden wall of Intake Cottage. It enjoys the same south-facing views and is a lovely place to stay for those seeking rest and recuperation. The cottage is designed to maximize the beautiful views, with the main living space located on the first floor. This living and dining room features a wood burner and doors leading out to a roof terrace. It is furnished with quality soft furnishings and equipped with a TV, Blu-Ray DVD player, CD player, and free Wi-Fi internet access.

The ground floor houses the bedroom, which features an antique double bed. After a long day, guests can unwind in the bathroom's roll-top bath. The bathroom and kitchenette are equipped with underfloor heating. The kitchenette includes a Belfast sink, washing machine, electric cooker, small fridge freezer, toaster, and microwave. Outside, there is a garden and summer house, as well as a BBQ area for those who wish to dine alfresco.

Low Row offers numerous local walks and mountain bike routes, several of which are featured in guidebooks provided at the cottages. Just over the "Buttertubs Pass" into Wensleydale, visitors can explore the market town of Hawes, famous for its Wensleydale Cheese.

In the opposite direction, guests can visit the Georgian market towns of Richmond and Barnard Castle. The nearby Bowes Museum is an international venue for art exhibitions and hosts various exhibitions throughout the year.
