The Garlic Farm on the Isle of Wight offers an ideal countryside retreat with a range of beautifully converted self-catering holiday cottages and luxury yurts, providing accommodation for between two and ten guests. The farm is perfectly located for exploring the island by foot or bicycle, with a local pub just a mile away and beaches within a short drive or bike ride. For larger gatherings, the cottages and yurts can be booked together, accommodating up to 50 people.
The luxury yurts, handmade on the Isle of Wight, are set in a private field behind The Garlic Farm. Ideal for couples or small families, each yurt sleeps up to four guests with a king-sized bed downstairs and single mattresses on a mezzanine deck. The yurts feature fully equipped kitchens, dining areas, en-suite bathrooms, wood-burning stoves, and insulation for year-round comfort. A roof dome provides ventilation, and outside you’ll find a fire pit, seating, hammock, and BBQ. Though there is no WiFi in the yurts, it is available in the games room, farm shop, and restaurant. When booked together, the yurts can accommodate up to 25 guests, with a communal deck, fire pit, bar, and dining yurt for group gatherings. Please note that dogs are not permitted in the yurts.
Built in 1672, Little Mersley Farmhouse is a beautifully renovated and unique example of an Island yeoman farmer’s house. It is set in its own private grounds and is ideal for families or groups of 6-8 adults. The ground floor includes a spacious master bedroom with an en-suite shower, perfect for those who prefer to avoid stairs. There is also a cozy sitting room with a wood-burning stove, a dining room, a well-equipped galley kitchen, and a utility room with a toilet. Upstairs, the first floor features a double bedroom with en-suite and beautiful views of the Arreton Valley, as well as a twin-bedded room and a separate bathroom. The second floor offers two twin-bedded rooms tucked into the eaves.
The Milking Parlour is a single-level barn conversion offering a spacious sitting room and kitchen with a vaulted ceiling. One side of the living room has a double en-suite bedroom, while the other includes a second double room, a bunk bedded room, and a shared bathroom. Outside, there is an enclosed garden and ample private parking. The property also offers ramp access, making it wheelchair accessible.
The Mill Cottage forms the southern half of Little Mersley Barn, built around 1720. The entrance features original mill stones. The kitchen-dining room has a gallery overlooking the sitting room, which opens onto a patio. The downstairs includes a bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and large walk-in shower, along with separate vehicle access at the rear. Upstairs, there is a double room with an en-suite bath, a twin room, and a separate bathroom.
Kiln Cottage, part of Little Mersley Barn, was built in 1802 and completed in 2007. It offers stunning views of the Downs. The ground floor features a spacious open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area, as well as a bathroom/utility room with a shower. Upstairs, there is a double bedroom with exposed beams and an en-suite bath, a twin room, and a separate bathroom. Patios on both sides of the cottage provide perfect spots for enjoying the surroundings.
Barn Cottage is a single-level barn conversion that overlooks the paddock and features its own entrance, enclosed garden, and BBQ area. It includes a double bedroom and a second room with full-size bunk beds. The bathroom has both a separate bath and shower. The spacious, well-equipped kitchen and living area are complemented by a separate lobby/utility area.
Paddock Cottage, a converted section of an old threshing barn, is perfect for a couple or small family using the sofa bed. It features a sitting room with a sofa bed, an adjoining kitchen, and a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. French windows in the bedroom open onto a patio with garden furniture and a BBQ. The sofa bed can be added for an extra charge of £35.
Farmhouse Cottage is a private annex featuring a spacious bedroom, bathroom, and sitting room. The bedroom opens onto a private garden with a patio perfect for enjoying the evening sun. The large bathroom includes a bath and walk-in shower, while the sitting room has a wood-burning stove. Tea and coffee making facilities, along with a mini fridge, are provided in the sitting room, but there is no kitchen or dining area. A fold-out bed is available, allowing the property to accommodate up to three guests.
The Garlic Farm Restaurant offers high-quality, garlic-inspired dishes using locally sourced ingredients, including home-reared beef and goat. The restaurant provides indoor and outdoor seating, a licensed bar, and views across the valley. It overlooks a large lawn and children's play area, with farm animals such as Highland cattle, horses, goats, and chickens roaming nearby.
Guests staying at the farm have exclusive access to a tennis court, football pitch, and games room. The farm is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, at the heart of the Isle of Wight's 147 miles of bridleways, cycling routes, and footpaths, making it a perfect base for exploring. The farm can also be reached by bicycle from passenger ferries in Ryde and Cowes via scenic cycle routes along old railway lines. A short ten-minute walk onto the Downs offers stunning views of the island, the Solent, and beyond.
