North Hill Cottages offers fabulous self-catering accommodation close to the charming village of Shirwell, set in the idyllic countryside. We have 10 cottages to choose from, perfect for a memorable holiday in Devon. You can visit the nearby town of Barnstaple or discover one of the traditional seaside villages.

All of our properties are beautifully furnished and come with everything you need for a tranquil getaway in the country. Each property comes with a cosy living area, well-equipped kitchen, modern bathroom and comfortable bedrooms.
Rye Cottage:
This wonderful studio sleeps two people in a four-poster bed making it perfect for a romantic break. A separate bathroom has a shower over the bath. The open-plan living/dining room comes with a fitted kitchen. A wood burner will keep you warm in the winter months and there are exposed beams.
Ivy Cottage:
Our charming property sleeps two people in a four-poster room with en suite facilities. There is a wood-burning stove and beautiful exposed beams in this holiday cottage. The open-plan living/dining room comes with a fitted kitchen.
Rowan Cottage:
This gorgeous cottage sleeps up to four people in a downstairs king/double en suite room and a ground floor double/twin room with en suite facilities. A spacious open-plan sitting/dining room comes with a fitted kitchen upstairs.
Holly Cottage:
Our lovely cottage sleeps up to four people in a double room and a small children’s bunk room. Both rooms share a family bathroom. The open-plan living/dining room comes with a fitted kitchen and you can stay toasty in front of the wood burner.
Byre Cottage:
This magnificent cottage sleeps up to four people in one double bedroom and one twin bedroom that share a bathroom. The open planning living/dining room comes with a fitted kitchen and you savour stunning views down the valley to the Taw estuary.
Orchard Cottage:
Our cosy cottage sleeps 4 people in a double room and a small children’s bunk room. An en suite Jack & Jill Bathroom is available. A lovely living/dining room comes with a kitchen. A delightful wood burner will keep you toasty on those chilly days and the cottage boasts spectacular views.
Shippon Cottage:
This spacious south-facing property sleeps 6 in a double room, a small twin room and a small bunk broom. The bathroom has a hip bath and shower over bath. A large sitting/dining room comes with a fitted kitchen and there is a wonderful wood-burning stove.
Willow Cottage:
Our fantastic cottage sleeps 6 in a downstairs twin en suite and an upstairs twin and four-poster room. A bathroom has a shower over bath. Unwind in the spacious living/dining room and rustle up some delicious dishes in the kitchen.
Harvest Cottage:
This superb south-facing cottage offers plenty of space and enjoys outstanding views to the Taw Estuary. The cottage sleeps 6 in a double, twin and bunk room. A large bathroom has a shower over bath. A cosy lounge/dining room comes with a fitted kitchen.
Sweet William Cottage:
Our newly converted cottage is the annexe to North Hill Farmhouse, offering high-quality accommodation. The cottage sleeps 2 in a large king room with a sofa bed. En suite facilities include a walk-in shower. Enjoy dining in the conservatory and a large sitting room has a toasty log burner.
Onsite Facilities:
You don't even have to leave the site to find a range of things to do. Guests can enjoy using the indoor heated swimming pool, tennis courts, sauna, hot tub, children's play area, games room and eight acres of lawns. Bake well fisheries are at the end of the lane as well.
Visiting Shirwell & Exploring Devon:
For those wanting to explore the area there are numerous places to go including the nearby town of Barnstaple where there are shops, pubs and restaurants. The holiday cottages are also surrounded by many footpaths that lead you across the stunning Devon countryside. You can explore the area whilst enjoy the wildlife and breathtaking views. As well as walking the local area is also good for fishing, golf, horse riding, cycling and much more. Excellent attractions to visit include:
