Mill Cottage was originally a small threshing mill and has been converted into light and modern self-catering accommodation with views over the open countryside of the East Mainland. Insulated to a high standard, with underfloor heating throughout, the cottage offers a comfortable and convenient base for your holiday in Orkney.
There is ample private parking alongside the cottage, and a lean-to shed at the rear of the cottage offers space to dry walking boots and wet weather clothing, as well as storage for bicycles etc. Guests are welcome to use the surrounding garden space.
Mill Cottage is ideal for people who enjoy outdoor activities such as walking and bird watching. The Mull Head Local Nature Reserve is nearby and there are sandy beaches at Dingieshowe, Newark and Halley. Other attractions that are close at hand include the Churchill Barriers and the beautiful Italian Chapel on the island of Lamb Holm.
In the town of Kirkwall places to visit include the St Magnus Cathedral and the Earl’s and Bishop’s Palaces. Orkney is renowned for its archaeology, and in the West Mainland the Stones of Stenness, Maeshowe, Ring of Brodgar and Skara Brae are some of the sites that make up the Heart of Neolithic Orkney World Heritage Site.
