Boathouse Cottage, Norham, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland


Standing on its own overlooking the River Tweed Boathouse Cottage is set on the edge of Norham village. Located between Berwick-upon-Tweed and Coldstream on the Scottish Border this is the perfect self catering holiday cottage for exploring the Scottish Borders and North Northumberland.

You enter Boathouse Cottage through an enclosed entrance porch giving direct access to a new and spacious kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is comprehensively equipped. The dining area has matching settings for six persons but is large enough to seat 8 to 10 persons with additional settings provided.

Sitting Room & Downstairs Bedroom - The lower ground floor is entered down two easy steps to an inner hall from where you can enter the living room, one twin bedroom, and one shower room with wash hand basin and loo.

The living room has stunning views both up and down the river. With a proper fireplace and comfortable seating, you can relax after an active day.

All rooms face the front and have views of the River Tweed and beyond.

It has its own garden and commands superb views to and across the river as well as up and downstream. Behind the cottage is a bank with mature woodland. Visitors stand a good chance of seeing a wide range of wildlife during their visit. 

Our lovely cottage has easy access to a number of waymarked quiet country walks and footpaths along the Tweed and into the surrounding countryside. Enjoy seeing the local wildlife. Tweed defines the Border here so you can walk in England or Scotland. If you’re bringing bicycles why not try the Tweed Cycleway which you can join across Norham Bridge. Or you can hire bikes locally from Wilson Cycles Tel: 01289-331476. Norham itself has a rich Border History, with historic St Cuthbert’s church a “must see”. The village is dominated by the ruins of Norham Castle, scene of many famous events. There are two pubs, a village shop and a newsagent and an excellent butcher you’ll find most things you need in the village during your stay.
