Champernhayes is a collection of 15th Century farm buildings outside of Wootton Fitzpaine & Monkyon Wyld, near Charmouth in Dorset. Our farm buildings have been beautifully converted into wonderful holiday cottages, nestled on a gorgeous West Dorset hillside, perfect for an idyllic getaway.
The self-catering cottages and farmhouse have been awarded 4 stars Gold by Visit England, ensuring a high standard of accommodation to suit all your needs. We are surrounded by magnificent countryside, great for a tranquil holiday.
The Farmhouse:
This outstanding holiday cottage comes with 4 bedrooms and enjoys sea views. This 15th Century thatched farmhouse sleeps 8 – 10 people. There is a living room with an inglenook fireplace and a log burner, a modern, well-equipped kitchen/diner fitted with limed oak units and an antique farmhouse table and 4 bedrooms (one of which is a downstairs twin bedroom with a cloakroom/WC). Upstairs there are a further three bedrooms. Outside there is a gorgeous south-facing garden with a gas BBQ and patio for al fresco dining whilst savouring the view.
Barn:
A fabulous 16th Century thatched Barn conversion sleeping 10/12. There is a first-floor sitting room with exposed A-frame beams, a log burner and spectacular southerly views across the valley to the sea at Charmouth. The kitchen has a four-oven Aga and an adjoining dining hall. On the first floor, you will find 3 bedrooms (2 double, 1 twin) all with en suites, while on the ground floor there are 2 bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin) with shared bathroom facilities. This holiday cottage has a large south-facing private garden and patio area with glorious views across the Dorset countryside.
Blackbird:
This delightful cottage has been beautifully converted from the original farmhouse buildings and sleeps 6 people. The open-plan sitting room has a coal-burning stove and the split-level kitchen with a dining area is fully equipped with everything you may need during your stay. There are 3 bedrooms at the holiday cottage, two of which are double bedrooms, both with en suite bathrooms. The 3rd bedroom is a twin room with its own en suite facilities. This holiday cottage also has a private garden with a patio and barbecue area.
Owl:
Our charming cottage sleeps 4 and has been recently refurbished to offer quality accommodation. A traditional country-style, open-plan kitchen comes with a dishwasher, washer-dryer, electric cooker, microwave and fridge/freezer. The sitting area has a coal-burning stove and dining table. There is one double bedroom with an en suite shower room and one twin-bedded room with en suite bathroom. Guests also have access to a private garden with a patio and barbecue area.
Lark:
This superb ground-level cottage sleeps 4 people 2 bedrooms, both are en suite. This holiday home includes a traditional country-style kitchen with a dishwasher, washer dryer, electric cooker, microwave and fridge/freezer. The open-plan lounge has plenty of soft seating, along with the wood-burning stove this is a lovely room to relax in no matter the time of day. This holiday cottage has 2 bedrooms (one double bedroom with en suite bathroom & one twin bedded room with en suite bathroom) perfect for a family of 4. Outside is a private garden with patio and barbecue area, offering a great for a glass of wine in the evening sun.
Swallow:
This delightful little holiday cottage is perfect for a couple and those holidaying on their own. There is an open plan sitting room with a dining and kitchen area, a double bedroom with en suite bathroom and a private garden with a patio and barbecue area. Outside there is a private garden complete with a patio, hardwood garden furniture and barbeque, great for al fresco dining in the summer.
Facilities include an indoor children’s plunge pool, shared between guests with free booking for private use on arrival.
Visiting Wootton Fitzpaine & Exploring Dorset:
The whole area is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is easily accessible from the main A35 road. The coast between Charmouth and Lyme Regis is World famous for its rocks and fossils dating back 190 Million years. You can relax on gorgeous Charmouth Beach or enjoy a scenic walk around Stonebarrow Hill. Trinity Hill Local Nature Reserve offers stunning landscape to see and further afield you can visit lots of great attractions:
