Myrtle House, Horton, Ilminster, Somerset (Sleeps 1-9)

Myrtle House dates back to 1867 and is a self-catering holiday home situated in Horton near Ilminster. The property in Somerset was built by the great grandfather of the present owner and has been sympathetically renovated and modernised with the retention of many original features.

The self-catering house can sleep up to 7 people in 4 bedrooms. The kitchen is fully equipped with an electric hob, electric oven and microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher, table (large enough to seat 7 adults plus a highchair) and a DAB digital radio. Two sitting rooms are available. One has a 17th Century Inglenook fireplace. The open fire burns logs which can be purchased from the Caretaker. There are 2 televisions available for use, one of which is connected to a DVD player. This property also has a dining room which has seating for 7 people.

Outside there are gardens to the front and rear and a patio with garden furniture and a barbecue. A ramp and path for wheelchair users are available.

Our adjoining barn has been converted to provide a spacious, modern and accessible annexe complete with specialist disabled facilities. The annexe can accommodate 2 people easily, with an additional sofa bed available for extra guests. The property has 3A grading which gives it excellent disabled access. The living area contains a large corner sofa bed and wall-mounted LCD TV. Throughout the property, there is underfloor heating.

The 2 properties can be hired together if needed or let separately. We do not let the properties to separate guests, ensuring you have the place to yourself.

Ilminster is a small market town with a particularly splendid Parish Church in the Perpendicular Style. Horton is joined to another village in Broadway. There are all the usual amenities: pubs, a village store and a post office. There are also 2 wonderful pubs within a 10-minute walk which are perfect places for dining out.

The nearest seaside resort is Charmouth (18 miles away). Lyme Regis and its Cobb (harbour; featured in 'The French Lieutenants Woman') and five beaches are also nearby. By car, Sidmouth and Weymouth (on the South Coast) are within easy reach. On the North Coast, Minehead can be visited using the steam train on the West Somerset Railway.
