The nearby Widemouth beach is a popular surfing location on the North Cornish coast and the lively seaside resort of Bude is a short drive away. As well as some of the best surfing locations in the U.K., there are beaches to suit all tastes, from stretches of sand to isolated rocky coves. R.N.L.I. lifeguards are on duty in the summer months.
Summerleaze Beach also has a large sea pool, safe, and ideal for youngsters. For sports enthusiasts there are lots of outdoor activities available in the local area. For the less active, Bude canal and its tow-path offers an opportunity for a peaceful stroll, popular with bird watchers and nature lovers. Sea fishing from the local beaches and rocks around Bude and Widemouth is a popular pastime and catches of bass, codling, flat fish, mackerel, whiting and dogfish are common.
