Tredington Mill, Tredington, Shipston-on-Stour, Warwickshire (Sleeps 1 - 4)
The mill has been separated into 2 beautifully appointed self catering holiday homes called Puddle Cottage & Pool View, both of which are ideal for a family or couples who want to visit the heart of England. Both holiday cottages are to the south of Stratford-upon-Avon at the edge of the Cotswold Hills and are therefore well placed for exploring Shakespeare Country.
Puddle Cottage
This holiday cottage is a peaceful retreat with French windows that open onto a courtyard garden where there are a set of table and chairs. Our courtyard garden is the perfect spot to catch the sun and enjoy an evening drink with an unspoilt view of the river and its island, teeming with wildlife just a few feet away.
The mill stream that runs through this self catering cottage means that it is is not suitable for unsupervised children, but well behaved pets are welcome.
Pool View
A cosy holiday cottage that still retains many of its original features such as exposed beams, steep staircases and large mill windows that make the most of the exceptional views. Guests to the holiday cottage are welcome to enjoy the garden, where you will find tables and chairs so you can relax next to the river. The garden is a river island that splits the River Stour to feed the mill stream. It has a weir and a notable weeping willow and you might see swans, kingfishers, herons and if you are very lucky, the occasional otter. Take a picnic or a glass of wine down to the weir. Children love playing near the river but need to be supervised.
Tredington is nestled between Shakespeare's birthplace and many of the Cotswolds' most popular attractions. This pretty village is a convenient base for exploring the towns and villages of this part of England which is famed for its beautiful landscape and pretty stone walled villages, many of which have historic churches and pubs selling local beers. There are 3 local breweries nearby.
The charming market town of Shipston-on-Stour is 2 miles away for restaurants, take aways, pubs and supermarkets. There is also a bank, a post office, a chemist, a leisure centre and a wide variety of small independent shops including delicatessens, a wine merchant, a fresh fish shop, butchers and bakers.
There are 10 National Trust Properties within 20 miles: Hidcote, Snowshill Manor and many independent houses, gardens and attractions which are privately owned and open to the public e.g. ýBlenheim Palace, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, Batsford Arboretum and Stanway House which has the tallest gravity fed fountain in the world.
