Kirkside Barn, Mary Tavy, Devon, Dartmoor National Park (Sleeps 1 - 8)
In or very near to Mary Tavy are several country inns, which serve excellent food and local ales. Princetown Brewery near Dartmoor Prison brews its famous Jail Ale.
The comfortable sitting room has a rocking chair, Freeview TV and DVD player and the 3 seater sofa converts to a double bed if required. A specially made staircase turning 180° leads to the double bedroom and the main bathroom, which contains a toilet, washbasin, and bath with shower.
There is a bright and airy kitchen/dining room in the holiday cottage which is fully equipped with an electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, toaster, washing machine, iron and ironing board, TV and a pine dining suite, to make meals at home a pleasure. A second feature staircase leads to two more bedrooms and the small bathroom, which has a studio bath, wash basin and corner toilet.
The dual aspect master double bedroom looks over the garden to the pretty village church and is an ideal place to watch the birds feeding in the mornings.
The 2 1st floor areas are not linked so there is some privacy, which is ideal for family groups of different generations, or two families holidaying together.
Double or twin bedroom: The double/twin bedroom has a zip-linked bed so is very flexible. The sloping ceiling and dormer window add character and a reminder that this was a former hayloft.  The twin bedroom, has a unique bed – a particular delight for children, but equally suited to adults. Again the sloping ceiling and dormer window show the hayloft origin.
This delightful detached split level barn conversion nestles next to the church in the old moorland village of Mary Tavy. This tranquil setting is only a few minutes’ walk from the fast flowing River Tavy and the breath taking rugged beauty of Dartmoor. With open moor only a mile away, this is the ideal base for walking or riding across the open spaces of Dartmoor or as a base when cycling the beautiful coast to coast route. There are facilities for tennis, golf, fishing, canoeing and gliding close by.
Horses and cycles can be hired from nearby centre and letterboxing on the Moor is an exciting activity for children. It is a wonderful area for bird watching and nature.
