The village of Leadenham itself has a public house just a short walk from Barn Lea, serving a wide selection of food, wines, beers and even large selection of whisky in the George Hotel. There are a number of public footpaths in and around the village, making it an ideal place to stay for those who want gentle and scenic walking right on the doorstep.

The City of Lincoln is just 13 miles to the north with its historic castle and cathedral and Bailgate shopping area. To the south the market town of Grantham and both Belton House and Belvoir Castle are just two highlights available.

The edge of the Wolds are just 30 minutes to the east, just past Woodhall Spa and just a little further, the coast itself, ranging from Skegness up to the seal sanctuary at Donna Nook. Just a short drive to the west is the Nottinghamshire border and the market town of Newark. A short drive further and you are in 'Robin Hood' country and Sherwood Forest as well as the city of Nottingham too.
