Taigh an t-Sithein, Braes, Isle of Skye (Sleeps 1-5)

The bungalow sits in its own garden and enjoys superb views across the sea to the island of Raasay and along the coastline from most of the rooms.

Set in the beautiful Braes area, just seven miles from the island capital Portree, the self catering property makes an excellent base from which to explore Skye. The district of Braes is made up of nine crofting townships.

At Balmeanach a spit of land reaches into the narrows of Raasay. This is An Aird and makes a delightful walk right from the bungalow into an area rich in wildlife, geology and history. Within view of the house is where in 1882 The Battle of the Braes took place resulting in laws being formed giving the people crofters rights for the very first time.

Walking along the shoreline you will find niches where the fishermen kept their boats over the centuries. Looking out to sea from the windows of the house it is possible to sight porpoise, dolphins, whales, basking sharks and otters plus lots of sea birds including Sea Eagles soaring overhead.
