The Old Sawpit, Elterwater, Nr Ambleside, Cumbria (Sleeps 1 – 4):

Originally the cartwheels were made here by the Elterwater Wheelwrights, the lower part of the building then being the actual Saw Pit, it's been a home or holiday accommodation since the late 1880's, originally let by the Price's as their first holiday cottage.

The upper floor of a traditional stone built Lakeland property, which has long been a favourite for families and couples who enjoy walking.

From here many people walk to Grasmere, Little Langdale, along to Great Langdale and beyond. Situated on the Eastern edge of Elterwater village, a short hop from the Britannia Inn with an excellent choice of local beers.

Close to the Langdale Spa if you fancy a swim and massage, or you could try your skill on the village bowling green. On sunny days the front steps make a great place to sit and read the morning paper (or browse the internet with the free wifi) or simply watch the world go by.
